Representatives of the CASE Program and ISE-Center took part in the 38-th annual „American Association for Advancement of Slavic Studies“, which were held in Washington, DC, on November, 16-19

The researches of the CASE program and ISE-Center officials participated in two sessions of the conference: „Russia and Islam: Tangled Past and uncertain future“ and „Joint degrees in U.S.-Russian Higher Education Cooperation“. The following participants took part in the work of the Islam session:

  • Alexei Malashenko, the leader of CASE network framework „Russia and Islam“;
  • Igor Dobaev, head of the geopolitical sector in Southern scientific center of the Russian science academy (Rostov-on-Don);
  • Tatiana Kostyukova, professor in Tomsk State University;
  • Akhmet Jarlykapov, research fellow in the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology (Russian Academy of Science);
  • Vladimir Semenov, research fellow at the information-analysis department of the Volga Region Academy for Civil Service (Saratov).

The session of education studies united these CASE representatives:

  • Valentina Grokhotova, Anatoly Rakhoshkin — Novgorod CASE,
  • Elena Kropinova — Baltic CASE,
  • Maxim Kirchanov — Voronezh CASE,
  • Lyudmila Igumnova — Irkutsk CASE,
  • Michael Mochalov — Tomsk CASE,
  • Natalia Anoshkina — Far East CASE.

The recent publications of the CASE universities and ISE center were presented at the exhibit hall of the convention.

The CASE participants of the AAASS-2006 also were invited to the Russian Embassy in the US, they were greeted by Russian Ambassador Yu. Ushakov and director of IREX program Mark G. Pomar.
