![]() ![]() Soros supplementary grants program 2005-2006The program was created to assist citizens of the selected countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia who are pursuing full-time advanced study within this region but outside of their home countries. The goal is to support cross-cultural, intraregional student mobility as part of the Open Society Institute's overall efforts to strengthen the academic network within and among these countries. The Soros Supplementary Grants Program 2005-2006 offers grants to:
Awards are offered for one academic year only and will be granted in up to $5,000. Awards are available to undergraduates and post-graduates enrolled at recognized institutes of higher education outside of their home country or permanent residence and in one of the countries listed below. Participating countries are as follows (no exceptions):
Terms of competition for academic year 2005-2006 OSI/FCO chevening scholarshipsThe Open Society Institute and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office jointly fund OSI/FCO Chevening Scholarships 2005-2006. The scholarships are intended t o provide opportunities for postgraduate study in selected fields in the United Kingdom for scholars and young professionals who demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision makers and opinion formers in their home countries . Applicants must have excellent academic qualifications, a clear and precise proposal describing what they wish to study, and a fluent command of the English language. The scholarships cover all university and college fees, travel to and from the UK, and basic living expenses for a single person. Within the Scholarship Scheme the following options are available:
Terms of competition for academic year 2005-2006. Deadline - 26 November 2004 Oxford colleges hospitality schemeOxford University, in conjunction with the Open Society Institute invites applications from scholars from selected countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, including Russia, who wish to work in the University libraries or to contact academic specialists in their subjects. The programme offers one-month visits in one of the Oxford colleges, mostly during the summer months. Scholars will normally be of post-doctoral or equivalent status, over the age of 26, and will be university teachers or members of research institutes. Scholars receive free single accommodation and meals, plus small allowances for photocopying, books, and personal expenses. The cost of travel may also be met. Applicants must have a good knowledge of spoken English. Priority will be given to those completing work for an advanced degree or working on a specific project such as a book or a new course of lectures, and to those who have not previously had a chance to study outside of Central and Eastern Europe or countries of the Former Soviet Union.
