OXFORD COLLEGES HOSPITALITY SCHEME
April 2005 – March 2006
Oxford University, in conjunction with the Open Society Institute invites applications from scholars from selected countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, including Russia, wprogramho wish to work in the University libraries or to contact academic specialists in their subjects. The programme offers one-month visits in one of the Oxford colleges, mostly during the summer months. Scholars will normally be of post-doctoral or equivalent status, over the age of 26, and will be university teachers or members of research institutes.
Scholars receive free single accommodation and meals, plus small allowances for photocopying, books, and personal expenses. The cost of travel may also be met.
Applicants must have a good knowledge of spoken English. Priority will be given to those completing work for an advanced degree or working on a specific project such as a book or a new course of lectures, and to those who have not previously had a chance to study outside of Central and Eastern Europe or countries of the Former Soviet Union. Those who will have spent two months or more of academically related time in the West within the period 1 April 2003 and the start of their visit are not eligible.
