Russia-based charity organization «ISE-Center (Information. Scholarship. Education)» was set up in 2002 on the basis of the Center of new technologies with Moscow Public Science Foundation (MPSF). The newly established organization relied on long-term experience in the successful implementation of charity projects, modern educational technologies and scientific methodology, an extensive expertise database, a broad regional affiliates network, active collaboration with partnership organizations and international charity foundations.

support and encourage academic contacts;
provide institutional support to Russian social sciences and humanities;
achieve closer integration of Russian scholars in the international academic community.
The Committee was established to perform expert review and assist distribution of the best training materials in political science, sociology and economics developed in Russian higher education and academic centers under the Education Innovation Project of the National Training Foundation (NTF) and the Chairs Support Program of the Open Society Institute (OSI).

 The ISE Center (Information. Scholarship. Education.) welcomes applications from citizens of Russia for the OSI/FCO Chevening Scholarships 2005-2006, which are jointly funded by the Open Society Institute and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office

 Oxford University, in conjunction with the Open Society Institute invites applications from scholars from selected countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, including Russia, who wish to work in the University libraries or to contact academic specialists in their subjects.

 The Civic Education Project (CEP) invites applications for its 2004-05 Local Faculty Fellowship program. Applications accepted from October 1, 2003 to March 1, 2004. Fellowships begin in September 2004.

 XI Program Board Meeting under the Russian Centers for Advanced Studies and Education Program will be held on October 23, 2003 in Washington DC, USA

 International conference «The Integration of Russia Into the International Academic Community: Perspectives from Russian Education and Scholarship», September 30  October 1 in Washington DC, USA

 As part of the second projects competition for individual and collective research grants in the area of social sciences and humanities, 102 grants were awarded under the CASE Program

 INTAS (the International Association for the promotion of cooperation with scientists from the New Independent States(NIS) of the former Soviet Union) has launched one open call, four collaborative calls, as well as a call for young NIS scientist fellowships and for innovation grants on 7 March 2003 with up to Euro 25.2 million available for international scientific research. The following calls provide funding possibilities for research in economic, social and human sciences.

 The ISE Center, jointly with the Sociology Education Center of the RAS Institute of Sociology, with the support of the Ford Foundation, initiated a new competition for CASEs (Centers for Advanced Studies and Education)

 Activity plans of Russian CASEs, from October 2002 through January 2003:

 Work is under way to create an «Involvement Map: Donor Activity in the Areas of Scholarship and Education», as part of the project: «Ongoing Forum of Representatives of Russian and Foreign Charity Institutions Focusing on Scholarship and Education».

The Council of Academic Supervisors under the Centers for Advanced Studies and Education Program held its 14th meeting on January 15, 2003 to discuss strategic plan for development of the Far East CASE and work schedules of the Baltic, Voronezh, Novgorod, Tomsk and Ural CASEs.

On December 18-20 2002 a conference targeting the recipients of the grants disseminated by the results of the first competition for individual and group research grants in the area of social sciences humanities, as well as the representatives of the CASEs, will take place. The conference is to be conducted with collaboration from the Resource Center at Saint Petersburg State University.

The Council of Academic Supervisors under the Centers for Advanced Studies and Education Program held its 11th meeting on December 2, 2002 to discuss academic activities plans and work schedules of the Irkutsk, Voronezh, Far East, Novgorod and Saratov CASEs.

The 4th session of the Education Donor's Forum was held on November 26, 2002. The participants had a detailed discussion of issues regarding dissemination of results obtained in grant-funded projects.

On October 31 and November 1, 2002 the Board of the Centers for Advanced Studies and Education Program held its 9th session in New York city, involving representatives of donors and Program operators. The agenda included issues related to CASE projects implementation, the possibility to create common research plans for CASEs, as well as longer-term development prospects for the Program.

In late September representatives of donors and operators of the Centers for Advanced Studies and Education Program made a work visit to the Irkutsk and Far East CASEs.
